 The period from 1800 to 1850 in America encompassed an art style of distinct features which I feature in my collection of antique fine arts. It was a period of romantic expression. In painting portraiture was foremost, along with landscape painting, still- life painting, minature portraits and later genre or scenes of every day life. Sculpture emerged as a serious art form with the neo-classic school. In the graphic arts printmaking developed further with reproduction of paintings in steel engravings, and the development of lithography.
