Description:
| Set of four cast iron classical garden chairs, two arm chairs and two side chairs, back splats decorated with a classical urn holding flowers and flanked by leafage swags or garlands, with iron rod seats, in old grey paint. Circa 1925. This design is inspired by the garden chair circa 1835 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841) for the Roman baths in Potsdam Park; inspired by classical Roman examples which were discovered in the 18th century at Pompei and Herculaneum. The Boston company W. A. Snow Iron Works patented this design on Nov. 3, 1925 and named it "Garland." It was illustrated in their catalog. The set of four chairs is $4900. 30in. H. 19in. W. 18in. D.
An additional arm chair in this pattern cast by another foundry is also available.
For a larger set in this design there is also available a settee and one arm chair which could make an assembled set of six chairs and a settee. Please contact for details. |
